my dad’s a Digos historian of some sort, having lived in Digos since he was a child. he dedicated most of his working life as a policy adviser for several mayors, as the town’s information officer and development planner for many years, and once served as an elected councilor. his knowledge of the town is intimate and his memory is remarkable.
prodded by those who believe in his authority on the subject, he wrote a book on the town’s history. he researched public documents, held interviews and recorded stories as told by its early residents, mayors, officials, educators and people from different walks of life. his work is his own recollection as much as it is the people’s collective memory of events that shaped the city that Digos is today.
my dad’s currently busy publishing (and reformatting) some of his work for the web. see excerpts of Digos’ history soon at www.davaosur.yebaah.com.
