after my globetrotting mission for the last few months, i’m now a full time housewife. i spend my days sending my hubby off to work, cleaning the house, cooking meals, doing the laundry, greeting hubby from work and… i’m finding that it’s not so full time at all. argh, retirement is not what it purports to be!
i’ve read until my eyes hurt. i’ve blogged, walked around, window shopped. take note, WINDOW shopped!! it used to be like when I shop, i SHOP. now that i’m not working, i get guilt pangs. so i stopped going to the mall. maybe, this will cure me of my shopping addiction. NOT! i’m having withdrawals!!! i once spent one entire afternoon online, browsing through hsn.com, macys.com, victoriassecret.com and salivating over mother’s day sale and mid-year clearance sales. haaaay! surely, there are ways to stay at home and still earn income for my guilty pleasures…
so i googled ‘work from home’ tips. i got 231 million results. i’m pretty sure i saw genuine investment offers, but they require huge start up capital. there were also plenty that looked like investment schemes luring me to give my money away so that some happy clown can spend it to kingdomcome.
the only thing i found that held promise was monetising my blog. it works by placing ads on my blog pages and when people click on these ads, i earn money. it certainly was safe and very easy to do.
i decided to do it and did it with google adsense. i just pasted a few codes on my blog page and voila, the ads appeared a few minutes after. adsense claim to deliver contextual advertising. meaning, the ads that appear on my pages are relevant to my site content. so if a post spikes up a reader’s interest, there’s more probability that it will result to clicks on related ads. we’ll see…
after a few days of placing the ads, i checked my earnings. true enough, there it was - my first online income. it was a mindboggling 20 cents! hehehe, i know, i know, i have to be patient and work more on getting my blog more traffic and hopefully, more ad clicks. if i’m lucky, i’ll have ten dollars by christmas. hmmmm… it seems like more work ahead of me to reconfigure my website.
donning up my business suit again is getting to be more and more appealing…
